Monel K500® is, essentially, a stronger, harder version of Monel 400®. It exhibits the same high corrosion resistance as that alloy, with added aluminum and titanium content that provides improved strength and hardness. Monel K500® is heat-treated under controlled conditions to precipitate submicroscopic particles of Ni3 (Ti, Al) throughout the material. It should be noted that age-hardened Monel K500® is more prone to stress-corrosion cracking than Monel 400®.
With very low corrosion rates in high velocity seawater and high strength, Monel K500® bar is an ideal material for marine applications. Monel K500® bar is also resistant to sour gas environments.
